Testing Accommodations

Follow the instructions below to request non-standard testing accommodations.

1. Breastfeeding mothers who request non-standard testing accommodations are to follow these steps:

a. Review the Policy and Procedure for Breastfeeding-Related Requests During the Bar Exam

b. Submit a letter to this office stating the type of accommodations you are requesting. Do NOT fill out any of the accommodations forms listed below.

c. We will review your request and will post a notice to your Applicant Portal as quickly as possible stating whether your request is granted, modified, or denied

2. Disabled persons who request non-standard testing accommodations under the American with Disabilities Act As Amended (ADAAA) and/or the Minnesota Human Rights Act are to follow these steps:

a. Review the Policy and Instructions for Requesting Testing Accommodations (effective for the July 2024 bar exam)

b. Fill out the appropriate forms shown below and include supporting documentation required by the forms

c. Submit completed forms (and documentation) along with your bar application and application fee

d. Please note that it may take time for you to gather documentation from your treating professional. You may wish to begin the process well before you plan to apply to take the bar exam. As soon as you submit the forms and documentation to this office, we will review your request and we will post a notice to your Applicant Portal as quickly as possible stating whether your request is granted, modified, or denied. Make sure to review the Policy and Instructions for Requesting Testing Accommodations (effective for the July 2024 bar exam) well in advance. 

Non-Standard Testing Accommodation Forms:

Applicant Request for Testing Accommodations – Requests for testing accommodations should be submitted by completing Section 5 of the Online Bar Application. If you were unable to do so or an issue has arisen after applying, a copy of the request form can be found here.

Disability Verification Form – Applicant must take this form to a qualified professional(s) for completion and submission to the Board office.

Certification of Accommodations History – To be completed by an educational institution or testing agency.
