Applicants granted testing accommodations may be tested at the same location (if there is adequate and appropriate space available) or at a different site (usually in downtown St. Paul). Applicants will be advised of the site location approximately one month prior to the examination.
Exam timing may be adjusted to accommodate social distancing requirements. Specific timing will be posted to your portal approximately three weeks prior to the exam. Here is an example of the timing:
Wednesday morning doors open: 7:30 a.m.
Wednesday registration: 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. (Allow 20-30 minutes to complete registration)
Wednesday morning instructions: 8:40 a.m. (be in your seat)
Wednesday morning session: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (2 MPT questions)
Wednesday afternoon doors open: 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday afternoon instructions: 1:15 p.m. (be in your seat)
Wednesday afternoon session: 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (6 MEE questions)
Thursday morning doors open: 7:30 a.m.
Thursday registration: 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Thursday morning instructions: 8:40 a.m. (be in your seat)
Thursday morning session: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (100 MBE questions)
Thursday afternoon doors open: 1:00 p.m.
Thursday afternoon instructions: 1:15 p.m. (be in your seat)
Thursday afternoon session: 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (100 MBE questions)
Digital clocks will be available in the room for timekeeping. They are synchronized as close as possible with the official clock, which is located at the Exam Supervisor’s platform. Watches and other timing devices are not permitted.
You must sign-in with the Registrars on both Wednesday and Thursday
For a list of allowed and prohibited items at the bar exam, click here. If you have any questions, contact our office. Applicants may bring personal sized bottles of hand sanitizer (up to 3 oz. with a flip or pump top) and a personal sized package of sanitary wipes.
Anyone who has requested and received special permission to bring an otherwise prohibited item into the exam room (such as pillows, lumbar rolls, wrist rest, ergonomic chairs, etc.) must present the green permission card to the security person at the secure testing area entrance and ask for assistance.
You may leave prohibited personal items in a designated UNSECURE area outside of the exam room. Leave all valuables at home. The Board of Law Examiners and the Roy Wilkins Auditorium at Saint Paul RiverCentre authorities assume no responsibility for lost or stolen personal items.
Make sure to bring:
Review the laptop registration and information page to use a laptop. If you are registered to use your laptop to take the exam, review the instructions you will receive on your applicant portal with your admission ticket prior to the exam.

Exam results are anticipated to be released on Friday, November 6, 2020.
